Nutrient Grab
My role: Art Director, 3D Generalist
This was one of the 14 games I was the Art Director for for the SeaWorld Parkwide game in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. All of the games were based in real science, had an emphasis on education and there was a strong restriction on directly controlling any animals.

This game was designed to show how nutrients from the ocean depths are bought up by the currents, and the sealife that this supports. I was the Art Director for this project, but I also made tweaks to the environment as well as making particle systems.

Player communication
A key part of the game is collecting both Phytoplankton and Zooplankton. However the Photoplankton spawns Zooplankton and players didn't seem to understand that.
Initially I put a simple unskippable tutorial in there, but as any game designer will tell you, no-one reads tutorials. After playing with some other ideas we animated the zooplankton coming out of the phytoplankton as a visual indicator, which helped guests understand.
